Western Australia has introduced tough new restrictions on Victorian travellers declaring all new arrivals to the state must immediately self isolate, as a Covid-19 outbreak in Melbourne continues to climb.
The state government stopped short of closing its border to Victoria, but will require all arrivals from from 6pm on Tuesday to immediately get tested and self-quarantine until they receive a negative result.
Anyone who has visited any of the 23 exposure sites in Victoria during the relevant times are also required to get tested immediately and must self-quarantine for 14 days.
Travellers from Victoria who have arrived since May 15 are urged to monitor their health closely and are warned they will be contacted by WA Police, using the G2G Pass declaration system in place in WA.

Quarantine direction triggered for Victorian venues
Four new cases were confirmed in Melbourne’s northern suburbs today and Victoria’s Department of Health has begun publishing exposure sites.
Anyone in Queensland who has been to one of these declared COVID-19 exposure sites in Victoria during the risk period specified is automatically required to quarantine.
Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said the Interstate Exposure Venues Direction would apply to people in Queensland who had been to any of these locations.
“In light of these new cases, I urge everyone to reconsider their need to travel to Melbourne’s northern suburbs,” Dr Young said.
