The Australian Government is releasing an additional 130,000 vaccines to support Victoria to accelerate vaccinations in the state, including in the Whittlesea Local Government Area.
This support will be provided through an immediate release of 40,000 doses this week and an additional 15,000 doses each week for six weeks.
Further, from Monday, the Altona North Commonwealth Vaccination Clinic will commence vaccination with the Pfizer vaccine, this is in addition to the AstraZeneca vaccine they are currently administering.
All 16 residential aged care facilities in the Whittlesea Local Government Area are fully vaccinated.

NSW health authorities are urging people to delay travelling to Victoria as the state grapples with a Covid cluster across Melbourneâs northern suburbs.
NSW Health issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon urging people to âpostpone non-urgent travel to Greater Melbourne and Bendigoâ.
âPeople with Covid-19 have visited a number of venues in Greater Melbourne and in and near Bendigo while infectious. This includes the Melbourne Cricket Ground and a number of hospitality venues,â the statement read.
âNSW Health asks that anyone who has been in Whittlesea Local Government Area remain particularly vigilant for signs and symptoms of Covid-19, in light of the community transmission in that area.

NSW Health continues to work closely with our Victorian counterparts as they investigate new COVID-19 cases detected in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. The cases visited a growing number of venues while infectious.
Everyone arriving in NSW, whether by air, rail or road, who has been in the Greater Melbourne area, is required to fill out a travel declaration form confirming they have not visited a venue of concern as listed on the Victorian Government website.
The declaration is available on the Service NSW website and provides vital information that allows NSW Health to contact travellers if necessary. It can be submitted in the 24 hours before arrival in NSW or upon entry.
