CONCORD â GM Defense LLC and Hendrick Motorsports have come together to create the Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) for the U.S. Army with the benefit of racing technology and speed.
The new GM Defense facility in Concord started production on the vehicle at the start of April, but before parts were assembled in the building, the facility was built in just 90 days. And GM Defense was able to have the first ISVs to the Army 120 days after the company was awarded the manufacturing contract. The 75,000-square-foot plant includes some of the latest manufacturing tools, including a digital operating system utilizing Bluetooth-enabled tools to meet Army requirements with extreme precision.

A group of pageant winners are teaming up with the 1Can Organization in Cabarrus to help fight student hunger this upcoming school year.Â
After the pandemic closed schools to in-person learning in 2020, many students were without access to nutritional meals. To help kick start the 2021/22 school year off, Sheryl Kluge, founder of 1Can Inc., plans to donate 1,000 school snack packs to the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City School systems. To help, six local pageant winners are helping Kluge collect food items for the snack packs.

Police Scotland A MAN is accused of trying to kill a police officer by driving at him in a car. Zeng Xing Yu is said to have hurt PC Neil Kerr in Devonshire Gardens Lane in Glasgow s Hyndland last July 21. Prosecutors claim the 48 year-old was behind the wheel of a motor which went on to strike PC Kerr on the head and body. Yu allegedly then drove with the officer on the bonnet before hitting another car. The attempted murder charge states PC Kerr fell to the ground all to his injury and danger of his life. Yu faces a separate allegation of resisting and obstructing other officers in the lane.

A few Concord residents spoke at Thursdayâs City Council meeting and called for the resignation of a council member.
During the public comment period, two residents, Trenton and Courtney Whalen, read a letter sent to the council describing a verbal confrontation between Councilman Brian King and a parent at R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary School.
The letter, which Trenton Whalen said was written and reviewed by at least 12 District 2 residents, stated that on March 30, King got out of his car during carpool pick up and walked toward the school. Witnesses stated that King recognized a female parent and started a verbal confrontation with her, mentioning some social media posts she made about him. The woman tried to leave the conversation, witnesses said. They also said King was exhibiting aggressive and threatening behavior. The school cross guard became concerned and called over a resource officer. Once the officer approached King, the woman lef
