Victoria Young The Cabarrus Heath Alliance is in its eighth week of COVID vaccine dispensing, and it is ensuring that every available vaccine is administered with no waste. To do that, CHA is offering leftover doses to clinic volunteers. Based off the vaccine groups described by the Department of Health and Human Services, those who volunteer at a COVID vaccine clinic are eligible to receive their shot as a frontline worker. Since CHA opened its first COVID vaccine clinic Jan. 6, there was always the possibility that the number of vaccines taken out of frozen storage could exceed the number of patients.

No. 1 E.L.K. didnât let hindrances stop its work. Of course, E.L.K. is the anti-litter group we told you about a few weeks ago â Eliminating Litter in Kannapolis. The group held its first clean-up event led by Rita Bliven. âWe had 12 amazing volunteers show up and clean up litter in the 38 degree rainy weather,â Bliven said. âWe gathered and bagged 12 bags of litter. We plan to do much more but Saturday was a great start considering the conditions. I am so thankful for everyone who showed up and worked hard, and for the adopt-a-street program.â The group worked on West 8th Street and got about half of the street cleaned. Theyâre going back later to finish.
