‘Again more bungles’ from Victorian government amid COVID outbreak25/05/2021|7min
Victorian Shadow Police Minister David Southwick says we are seeing “again more bungles” from the state government as restrictions are implemented amid the growing cluster in Melbourne’s north.
Victorian health authorities announced new restrictions for Metropolitan Melbourne beginning at 6pm on Tuesday as the cluster grows to nine cases across three households.
“We’ve got a government that can’t manage contact tracing,” Mr Southwick told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“If you can’t manage it, then unfortunately the only answer this government has is to lock everybody down and to incite fear in all Victorians as a result.

Victoria is one more stuff up away from another outbreak: Vic Shadow Police Minister05/05/2021|5min
Victorian Shadow Police Minister David Southwick says the Andrews government has had two resets and four ministers charged over hotel quarantine and yet this government s learned absolutely nothing . How many attempts at getting right does this government need? he said. We are one more stuff up away from an outbreak in Victoria. Victorian Shadow Police Minister David Southwick says "no answers" have been given by the Andrews government over its decision to renew the contract of the security firm involved in the state's hotel quarantine debacle.
The Victorian Opposition wrote to the state's auditor-general to investigate more than $60 million worth of taxpayer contracts handed to private securities companies involved in last year's botched hotel quarantine program.
"Unified was not even on an approved panel to be awarded a contract in the first place. $60 million was awarded to three companies - Unified received $30 million of that," he said.
"They were already under a cloud with a number of issues in New South Wales. Fast forward to today and in NSW we've had Unified Security be deregistered but a few weeks earlier, the Vic government gave them a three-year licence renewal.
"We want the auditor-general to investigate this. Daniel Andrews promised an investi
The Andrews government fails at ‘every single hurdle’12/01/2021|7min
Victorian Shadow Police Minister David Southwick says the Andrews government has failed at “every single hurdle” amid news residents were forced to wait three hours to apply for a permit to enter the state.
“If this government can’t run a website, then how do we expect them to run a state,” Mr Southwick said.
“At every single hurdle, they have failed.”
Mr Southwick said the Andrews government is continuing to “run government by press release” while failing to work out the details which follow.
“The fact that we’ve got Victorians locked out, not being able to come home is a complete failure,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith.
Premier Andrews doesn t need to apologise, he needs to resign 21/12/2020|7min
Victorian Shadow Police Minister David Southwick has criticised the final report into Victoria s hotel quarantine program and Premier Daniel Andrews’ apology about the deaths.
“Today we really got no answers, no accountability, and no one is taking responsibility,” he told Sky News host Catherine McGregor.
“His apology is not going to bring back 801 people to have Christmas with their families. Daniel Andrews does not need to apologise, he needs to resign.”
“We need the government to be held accountable for this coverup, a massive coverup, and we need answers.”
