New park and ride scheme used by 40 people at the weekend

JUST 40 people used the council s park and ride last weekend, despite the introduction of an additional service running from Poole for the first time. The weather has been outlined as a key factor for the dwindling number of passengers by both Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council and the opposition leader, Vikki Slade. Figures show that 25 passengers used the park and ride on Saturday, July 24 and just 15 passengers used the service on Sunday, July 25. Services, run by Morebus, operate from the Civic Centre to Sandbanks and from Kings Park to Boscombe Pier every 15 minutes. On the weekend of the July 17 and 18, over 1200 used the Kings Park service. Standards board chairman Cllr Daniel Butt upset by Twitter posts

THE new chairman of BCP Council’s standards board has been left hurt and upset by “unkind” Twitter posts over his lack of experience after he was elected to the post last week. In an unorthodox move, Cllr Daniel Butt, who only joined the council in 2019, has written to all councillors and chief executive, Graham Farrant, saying he is unhappy – but he is not making a formal complaint. He said: “I would ask that all members please stop using social media to personally attack other members.” And he added: “I simply ask that we all draw a line under this upsetting event and ensure that we do everything possible to uphold the Code of Conduct and hopefully make every effort to be kind to each other in future.”

NHS workers receive note saying curtains are a disgrace

This note, written in block capitals, read: ‘Your garden and curtains are a disgrace. This is not Turlin Moor’. The shocked nurse said: “I am sure it wasn’t the person who delivers the newsletter as I had already received one earlier that day. “The note was tucked inside of another newsletter and left hanging out of my letter box which I thought that was a bit unusual. “It was just horrible. It’s like being bullied in your own home and that should be the one place where you should feel safe.” On one side of the bungalow, the couple have a net curtain on the kitchen window.

Former Poole mayor against £90,000 car budget

THE former mayor of Poole said the council needed to spend every penny wisely and spending £90,000 on two new cars was “excessive”. The funding was included in BCP Council’s long-term fleet management plan, and if approved would see £90,000 spent on two cars for mayoral use. And Marion Le Poidevin, former mayor for Poole, with current mayor Julie Bagwell and future mayor Tony Trent have opposed the plans, saying they were “horrified”. Cllr Le Poidevin said: “I have been mayor for two years, the last year with very little activity. “In my experience, we really do not need a car of that price, that quality, that size.
