A teenager has been charged following the armed incident at Crawley College.
Sandijs Dreimanis, 18, has been named by police and is expected to appear in court later on Wednesday.
Students and staff had to be evacuated with their hands on their heads after shots rang out at Crawley College, West Sussex, on Monday.
The heroics of one teacher and their colleague, who were injured tackling an armed suspect, were lauded by police and the college praised the actions of the emergency services.
Teenager in Court Following Crawley College Armed Incident
A teenager appeared in court on Wednesday after being charged following an incident at Crawley College on Monday when shots were fired.
Sandijs Dreimanis, 18, of Barton Walk in Crawley, West Sussex, England, was named by police earlier in the day and “charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of a bladed article on a school premises.”
Dreimanis did not enter pleas to the charges when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrate Paul Dalby told Dreimanis that “the allegation involving a firearm can only be dealt with at the Crown Court, and as the other matters occurred at the same time they too will be dealt with at the Crown Court.

Local officers were liaising with counter-terror specialists on Monday evening but later announced that it is not being treated as a terrorist incident.
An 18-year-old appeared in court today, charged with firearm and assault offences. A phased reopening of the college will take place between tomorrow and Tuesday, and students are advised to check full details on the college s website before returning to campus. Principal Vicki Illingworth said: “I can reassure everyone this was a one-off incident and we have strategies in place to keep everyone as safe as possible, as well as giving the students the support they need to come back and join us to complete their studies successfully. “Sussex Police have confirmed this is being treated as an isolated incident which is not terror related and nobody else is being sought in connection with the incident.
