Wellington solo mum Yessenia Sandoval is sending out free period packs to people in need. Just after last year s national lockdown, she began giving out care packs to people with endometriosis who had gone through surgery. Coinciding with endometriosis awareness month in March, Sandoval decided to reach out on the Vic Deals Facebook page to see if she could help people who also suffered with heavy periods. “I didn’t expect for it to go the way it did,” she said. Within 24 hours she had 40 to 50 emails. Sandoval said she was shocked at how many people needed help.

This Jessie St Te Aro flat, compared to a dungeon and being rented for $495 a week, is not an anomaly says Renters United.
A social media post about a $495 a week underground flat in Central Wellington has sparked outrage from Wellington renters, who have described the unit as “like a dungeon” and something from “the set of
Parasite”. The basement unit – one of five units in a residential building on Jessie St in Te Aro – has two bedrooms and access to a private bathroom, upstairs from the unit itself, on the ground floor of the building. Ames O’Brien, who made the post after viewing the unit yesterday, said photos of the property in an advertisement on Trade Me were misleading.
Three weeks after Keitha’s gesture Hutchison, 23, is still overwhelmed at her kindness. “I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t because I was just so happy. It was the sweetest thing ever,” she said. Cayden, aged 1½, sleeps with his new toy every night: “He loves it.” The toddler and his older sister, Niah, are just 10 months apart in age and love playing together.

Cayden and his sister Niah, 2, are “Irish twins” meaning they were born within a year of each other. Niah is 10 months older than her brother. The pair adore each other. Believing it was important that Cayden had a doll that looked like him so that he felt included, Hutchison had searched everywhere for a doll with Down syndrome but had been unable to find one.
