Visy applies for development licence
Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has received an application for a development licence from Visy Industries Australia Pty Ltd, to expand their glass recycling operation at Laverton.
Visy is proposing to upgrade the glass recycling facility at 46-52 Dohertys Road, Laverton. They currently hold an operating licence for the prescribed activity and operate an existing glass works facility.
The new glass recycling plant is designed to process 40 tonnes of recyclable container glass per hour, replacing the existing plant that can process 24 tonnes per hour.
The new recycling plant will produce furnace ready recyclable container glass cullet used in the manufacturing of new glass containers.
A new COVID-19 vaccination hub will open at the Wyndham council civic centre in Werribee from Thursday.
Mayor Adele Hegedich said the hub, to be operated by Western Health, “was a first of its kind” for local government in Victoria.
“We’re proud to be partnering with the state government to see our community vaccinated against COVID-19,” Cr Hegedich said.
“As part of this partnership, we’ll see the functions area of the Wyndham City Council civic centre transformed into a vaccination hub three days a week, from 8.30am to 4pm, to support the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Residents who are eligible to be vaccinated no longer need to travel to the Sunshine Hospital, and can now book via the Victorian online COVID-19 vaccine booking system or the COVID-19 hotline to secure an appointment.”
Wyndham City is calling for Expressions of Interest from local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Aboriginal people to become members.
