A former Secret Service agent says she couldn t defend Michelle Obama from racist verbal attacks.
Evy Poumpouras told Insider she could do nothing when witnessing racist comments.
Poumpouras book, Becoming Bulletproof, details her time in the Secret Service.
The former Secret Service agent Evy Poumpouras says an upsetting part of her previous job was not being able to protect Michelle Obama from racist slurs or signs while on duty.
Poumpouras served on the presidential protective division for the first lady and President Barack Obama during their time at the White House. She also protected George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George H.W. Bush during her 12 years in the Secret Service.
They announced their divorce with separate statements posted to Twitter, which said they no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.
Two years prior, they both appeared in a three-part Netflix documentary series called Inside Bill s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates, which primarily focused on Bill Gates philanthropy work but also shed light on the former couple s decades-long relationship.
During one episode, the series director, Davis Guggenheim, asked Bill what his biggest regret would be if he was hit by a bus today and died. After pausing for a short period, he said: You know, thanking Melinda.

Chloé Zhao won best director for her movie Nomadland, becoming only the second woman ever to win the award.
The director follows in the footsteps of Kathryn Bigelow, the only other woman to win best director in the Academy s 93-year history. Bigelow won in 2009 for The Hurt Locker, which won six Oscars in total including best picture.
