Jane Kavanagh has been appointed as head of research development and Walsh Scholarships in Teagasc, Ireland s agency for research, advisory and education in agriculture, horticulture, food and rural development. She will lead the research programme and ensure Teagasc has effective research systems and processes. She will also manage the Teagasc Walsh Scholarship Programme, which plays a key role in developing talent for the agri-food industry with an annual expenditure of around €6m. Teagasc is currently in the process of filling a number of roles within the organisation which all have a communications element, one of which will be focused on outreach and innovation.
Among the promiment roles being recruited for are head of dairy Knowledge Transfer; head of research development and Walsh Scholarships; director of human resources and partner; and regional manager of the Waterford-Kilkenny advisory region.
Agriland understands that an outreach and innovation position which is now available, is a slightly amended role from the role which was previously held by Paul Maher before he was appointed as the new head head of international relations and corporate strategy.
The Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) has announced three new appointments to its regional staff structure in Munster.
William Shortall has been appointed as a senior regional executive for Munster. Mr Shorthall has more than 15 years’ experience in IFA as a regional executive and has worked with IFA Countryside and as a health and safety Executive.
Karol Kissane has been appointed as regional executive for Cork and Kerry. Karol is an accountant and a tax adviser, he is a 2018 Nuffield Scholar and returned to farm in Kerry in 2013. Recently, Karol has been involved with the online platform,
