David Pinnell, prosecuting, said: “The defendant attacked the victim who fell backwards, banging her head on the floor. “She got on top of the complainant who was punched to her forehead and right eye, and there were attempts to gouge her in both eyes with fingers. “The victim also felt kicks to the ribs. She was defenceless on the floor. “She could hear her daughter screaming.” Mr Pinnell told the court there had been a confrontation between Davies and Miss Jones earlier that day when they had dropped their children off at the school in the morning. There was hostility between the two and they were connected by being in relationships with two brothers.
A MAN has been sentenced after committing burglaries and stealing cars in Cheshire. David Ashton began his crime spree in the early hours of Monday, November 30, last year, breaking into a house in Wooley Avenue, Poynton, while the occupiers were asleep. The 21-year-old located the keys to an Audi car parked outside the address and then stole the vehicle. The incident coincided with a different Audi being abandoned with a flat tyre in Wooley Avenue. That car had been stolen from the Timperley area of Greater Manchester on Sunday, November 15. Ashton, of Kinmel Walk, Wythenshawe, returned to Cheshire on Sunday, December 27, entering a house in Walden Close, Grappenhall, Warrington, while the occupiers were at home and stealing a handbag containing vehicle keys and bank cards.
A DETERMINED thief was chased by a concerned neighbour after being caught burgling a home in Thelwall. Wythenshawe burglar David Ashton targeted the home in Walden Close as part of a crime spree across Cheshire and Greater Manchester. After helping himself to expensive cars through snatching the keys from people’s houses, he was eventually caught by police. The 21-year-old was hauled before Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, where he was sentenced to a period of imprisonment.
