INLET BEACH A 59-year-old Ohio man died in an early Friday morning wreck on U.S. Highway 98 when the pickup truck he was driving was rear-ended by another vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred at 1:50 a.m. in the outside eastbound lane of U.S. 98, west of Watersound Parkway, according to the FHP. The Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by the Sandusky, Ohio, man was struck from behind by a Porsche being driven by a 32-year-old Panama City man as the vehicles approached Watersound Parkway, according to an FHP report. The driver of the Porsche, who failed to slow for the pickup truck, sustained minor injuries, the report noted.
The homeowner said a fire had broken out inside the house. Although he attempted to put it out himself, the fire spread to the roof and he was unable to contain the flames.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy plumes of smoke billowing from the roof of the home, the release said.
Liberty Volunteer Fire Department was later called to the scene to provide additional water supply to the firefighters battling the blaze. After battling the flames for almost 45 minutes, firefighters were able to get the blaze under control.

DeEFUNIAK SPRINGS A man has been sentenced to four decades in prison after he was convicted of child pornography charges, according to a news release from the State Attorney s Office.
On Dec. 11, 2019, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit executed a search warrant at Miller s home in the Timberwind neighborhood in DeFuniak Springs. The search warrant was the result of investigators receiving numerous cyber tips of someone uploading child pornography from the internet protocol address associated with Miller’s house. A forensic computer specialist with the Sheriff’s Office found 19 images of children ranging from 2 years to 8 years old engaged in various sex acts.
Preston, a retired lieutenant colonel of the Walton County Sheriff s Office, added that the establishment is designed around a crawl, walk, run mentality, meaning patrons are properly trained and educated before stepping on the range.
