The homeowner said a fire had broken out inside the house. Although he attempted to put it out himself, the fire spread to the roof and he was unable to contain the flames.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy plumes of smoke billowing from the roof of the home, the release said.
Liberty Volunteer Fire Department was later called to the scene to provide additional water supply to the firefighters battling the blaze. After battling the flames for almost 45 minutes, firefighters were able to get the blaze under control.
