The Walleye Drop Committee, which is part of the Wylie Walleye Foundation, already has begun planning for next year’s New Year’s Eve event. This year will mark the 25th anniversary of the Walleye Drop, and the committee is looking for volunteers who will help make it the biggest event ever.
“We’re a small group about 12 people,” said committee vice chair Kristina Willoughby. “The more help we can get, the bigger it can grow.”

The Walleye Drop was created in 1997 to host a wonderful New Year’s Eve celebration in Downtown Port Clinton. Now, 25 years later, it is looking forward to entertaining thousands more seeking to bring in the New Year in a unique way.

There’s no better way for family and friends to safely party this New Year’s Eve than to gather to enjoy the annual Walleye Drop in Port Clinton, which will be beamed globally in a unique broadcast.
The world’s favorite fish will swim to the streets of Port Clinton for the 32nd time on New Year’s Eve, but this time through the camera magic of Nick James Productions of Port Clinton. That will allow revelers around the globe to also celebrate the arrival of 2021 with a special show featuring Wylie the Walleye.

PORT CLINTON, Ohio The Walleye Drop has become an annual New Year s outing that brings thousands of visitors to northwest Ohio, and despite the in-person event being canceled this year, you can still take part in the tradition.
Leaders with The Wylie Walleye Foundation made the decision to nix the in-person element back in September, but knew they wanted to do something special to mark the event s 24th year.
In true 2020 fashion, the foundation will be hosting the first-ever Virtual Walleye Drop streamed live on a newly created YouTube Page on New Year s Eve.
