Tasmania is taking a responsible and measured approach to managing the State’s borders after monitoring case numbers in both Victoria and New South Wales over the past 24 hours.
After carefully monitoring the situation in both states, from midnight tonight the Wollongong Local Government Area (LGA) will be classified as a medium-risk area, meaning any travellers who have been in that area 14 days prior to coming to Tasmania must quarantine at a suitable residence or in government accommodation, where fees will apply.
This now means that the Wollongong LGA and greater Sydney area are classified as medium risk, meaning that 14 days quarantine on arrival in Tasmania is required, while the Northern Beaches LGA continues to be classified as high risk.
