Warrington Market becomes first tech-powered market hall with mobile ordering

Warrington Market WARRINGTON Market has become the UK s first tech-powered market hall. The £11 million facility is using Yoello technology, a mobile ordering and payment platform, to allow customers to order food and drink safely, without staff contact, physical menus or queuing. Paul Blaney, market operations manager at Warrington Market, explained: When the market opened earlier this year, we knew we had to start looking into table ordering and to use some of the latest technology out there. I did some serious research into the different platforms and businesses that could help the market and Yoello came out on top. Being small, independent businesses, our traders are able to adapt very, very quickly and the Yoello platform has been able to help with their business resilience in these challenging times.

Pensioner, 83, still decorates festive fir every year that her parents bought 98 years ago

One of Britain s oldest Christmas trees has been dressed for the 98th time by a pensioner who remembers decorating the festive fir throughout her childhood.  Kathy Firth, 83, embellishes the artificial tree with decorations which have been in her family for decades when it takes pride of place in her home each year. Her parents bought the tree - made from goose feathers - from Warrington Market to celebrate her older brother Frank s first Christmas in 1922. Ms Firth, who has another brother Ralph and a sister Delpha, remembers the decoration fondly from her childhood. The pensioner, from Walton, said: It had real candles on it and my mother used to put it on the fireplace and it seemed so big to us, though really it s tiny.
