The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike conducts
Ward Committee meetings, and it gives an opportunity to
residents to present the problems of the
ward with the respective authorities in charge of finding solutions to these problems.
On Saturday, January 16, the
Committee meeting for Ward 45 of
Malleswaram will be held at 10.30 a.m at Suberpalya School in
Yeshwantpur.

Civic body will get
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is going to be richer, courtesy a
Bill passed earlier this month by the state legislature. While the civic body will be the beneficiary of the professional tax – currently going to the state exchequer –
BBMP has also been given the powers to collect entertainment tax. Both these taxes are estimated to provide an additional Rs 1,500 crore to BBMP’s kitty.
The BBMP will also start levying property tax based on the guidance value. This is expected to fetch additional revenue to the municipal corporation. While the civic body’s dependence on state government will reduce, questions are being asked whether the officials will be able to use the funds wisely.
