With some of your favourite friends or co-workers. You ll soon be able to do that on Pine Street in Warrensburg. The Warrensburg Start Journal is reporting that the Warrensburg City Council approved a conditional use permit at their meeting to allow axe throwing at 108 West Pine Street. Documents submitted to the City of Warrensburg for the conditional use permit indicate the new business will contain 10 axe-throwing lanes, a bar, and a seating area on the first floor. A DJ booth, seating, and a bag toss area in the mezzanine. So essentially, it seems like a bar or club where instead of playing ski-ball or darts, you throw axes for entertainment.

Help Sustain Warrensburg s Old Drum Animal Shelter

On December 14 the Warrensburg City Council passed an ordinance authorizing an agreement to keep Old Drum Animal Shelter open through 2021 with Warrensburg Animal Rescue providing animal services to the community and the City letting the group use the City s current shelter facilities effective January 1. Now that January 1 has come and gone, Warrensburg Animal Rescue needs $27,500 a month to cover the shelter s operating costs. That $27,500 equals $330,000 to run the shelter for the year. This includes staffing, pet food, veterinary care, utilities, vehicle upkeep, office supplies, licences and insurance required to maintain a rescue serving the area. This year Warresnburg and Johnson County are kicking in $100,000 to help the group get off to a good start. That won t continue after this year. This according to a post on the shelter s Facebook page.

Warrensburg Animal Shelter Saved Warresnburg Animal Rescue (WAR), the group formed to save Old Drum and Friends Animal Shelter in Warrensburg is set to take over the shelter on January 1. On Monday December 14 the Warrensburg City Council passed an ordinance authorizing an agreement to ensure the continuation of animal shelter operations. The agreement ensures the shelter will remain open through the end of 2021 with Warrensburg Animal Rescue providing animal services to the community and region. In exchange the City will allow Warrensburg Animal Rescue to use the current facilities of the shelter at not cost. As part of the agreement, a county-wide measure to finance the shelter beyond 2021 will be on the April General Municipal Election ballot. If it passes, the animal shelter will be funded for the foreseeable future.
