Warren County Polar Plunge Raises Funds for Special Olympics Iowa

Attendees dressed as cheerleaders, with socks attached to shirts, or with no shirts at all braved the 40 degree waters at Lake Ahquabi Saturday for the annual Warren County Polar Plunge, raising money for Special Olympics Iowa. Organizer Randy Spurr was awarded with a collage and words from special olympics athletes for helping to organize the plunge for over a decade, and to celebrate his retirement from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Spurr tells KNIA News it was a special moment for him to receive that recognition, but to him it’s all been about helping the athletes and Special Olympics Iowa.
