Kanpur: Indian women’s cricket team captain Mithali Raj and her team members were eagerly awaiting the first one-day international (ODI) match against South Africa to be played at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on March 7 to prove their worth. Addressing the media in a pre-match virtual press conference from Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, Raj said that her team has some young players and a five one-day series would give an opportunity to young players to prove their talent. “Moreover, the series will also give an opportunity to prepare the team for the World Cup. Also, the first ODI will also give an opportunity to develop coordination among the players and attain a good rhythm in batting and bowling,” she added.

Locals rush to clean Ganga & ghats, remove 16 tonne waste | Varanasi News

Varanasi: The launch of mega Ganga cleanliness drive in the name of ‘Ganga Swachchta Abhiyan’ witnessed an overwhelming response from local denizens as over 1,900 volunteers thronged the ghats along river Ganga and removed 16 tonne of waste material from water surface and ghats in one hour on Sunday morning though only 1,600 had registered. The drive has been initiated to make the sanitation drive initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi a grand success by sensitising and involving locals, said divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal while participating in the cleanliness drive at Assi Ghat. District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said, “The cleaning of ghats is already being ensured by the Varanasi Municipal Corporation. The basic objective behind launch of this mega drive is to make the people realizing that keeping Ganga and its ghats clean is their responsibility as well.”

City hosp holds research on recovered Covid patients | Varanasi News

Prayagraj: The department of Pulmonary Medicine, MLN Medical College (Prayagraj) has conducted a Covid research analysis on 100 recovered Covid patients, confirmed by a negative RT-PCR test. The category of patients was divided into mild/moderate and severe/critical groups. Their clinical sign and symptoms and blood biochemical markers were also analyzed. Dr Tariq Mahmood, Prof and Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine MLN Medical college( Prayagraj) told TOI, “Of these patients, 60 had one or more co-morbidities. He added that Diabetes (60%) and hypertension (35%) were the most common coexisting conditions, COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) was also found in 27 % of cases, Bronchial Asthma in 21% of the cases and chronic kidney disease found in 9% of cases.

2 cops suspended in Chandaulifor links with liquor smugglers | Varanasi News

Varanasi: An audio clip exposing involvement of cops posted at Kandwa police station in Chandauli district in facilitating liquor smugglers to cross border for entering Bihar, a dry state, with liquor consignments went viral and resulted in suspension of two police constables while 20 others were attached to police lines. SP Chandauli Amit Kumar raided the Kandwa police station on Friday night, paraded all the staff. After questioning the entire staff of police station and collecting information, the SP ordered suspension of two constables and attached 20 others to police lines for fair investigation. Talking to TOI on Saturday, Kumar said, “CO Naugarh has been asked to probe the matter and submit report within 15 days. Further action would be taken accordingly.”
