Women’s History Month event: Stella Safo on women leading health equity advocacy UMass Medical School Communications February 24, 2021 UMass Medical School will observe Women’s History Month with a virtual event featuring physician and health equity advocate Stella A. Safo, MD, MPH. Dr. Safo, will present “Let Women Lead: Using Civic Engagement and Advocacy to Address Health Inequities” via a Zoom on Tuesday, March 2, from noon to 1 p.m. Stella A. Safo, MD, MPH Safo, assistant clinical professor of medicine, infectious diseases and medical education at Mount Sinai Health System, is a primary care physician focused on treating patients with HIV. She brings extensive experience in clinical transformation and health care redesign to her advocacy for health equity. A native of Ghana, she co-founded VoteHealth 2020 to increase voter registration and turnout among health care providers, patients, peers and communities.
