WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - Cleanup is underway after 21,000 gallons of crude oil spilled at a well east of Williston, state energy officials said Wednesday.
State Oil and Gas Division officials said the release at the Equinor Energy LP well was due to a valve failure.
Officials said the oil was contained on-site and all but about 400 gallons had been recovered as of Wednesday afternoon.

WILLISTON, N.D. – Cleanup is underway after 21,000 gallons of crude oil spilled at a well east of Williston.
State Oil and Gas Division officials say the release at the Equinor Energy LP well was due to a valve failure.
Officials say the oil was contained on-site and all but about 400 gallons had been recovered as of Wednesday afternoon.
A state inspector has been sent to the location and will monitor additional cleanup.

PARSHALL, N.D. – North Dakota energy officials are reporting that 2,100 gallons of oil and 12,600 gallons of produced water spilled at a well near Parshall has been recovered.
State Oil and Gas Division officials say EOG Resources, Inc. reported the spill on Sunday. It was released due to an equipment failure within the containment system. Produced water is a byproduct of oil extraction and is typically taken from the well to a disposal site.
