The Muppet Show comes with a caveat: a viewer advisory which is now carried on some episodes â 18 in total â which warns of ânegative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or culturesâ. The advisory plays for 12 seconds and cannot be skipped using the remote control.
âThese stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now,â the statement from US studio Disney reads. âRather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it, and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together. To say 2020 was a particularly contentious year is an understatement. An incurable virus spread. Natural disasters rocked several nations. The rebound from a tough recession occurred slowly. Unexpected factors upended national politics, culminating in one of the most contentious U.S. presidential races in memory.
In fall 1976, when Ebola and Jimmy Carter’s White House run made many uncertain, a bearded puppeteer and his merry band of misfits came on prime-time TV to deliver laughter to the masses. This week, 45 years later, the release of “The Muppet Show” on Disney Plus just may bring some sorely needed happiness and relief to those who need it.
ONLINE: Fortunate Sons

Fortunate Sons has a book by Eric R. Cohen and Marc Madnick and is set in 1969, centering on the turbulent times during the Vietnam War and the first draft lottery held since 1942.
The reading will be live streamed on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. A maximum of 350 patrons per reading will be admitted. Attendance was first opened to Skylight subscribers, donors and patrons. Limited remaining tickets are now available on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets are free, but contributions are appreciated.
The Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club will celebrate its 100th year of service to the community in 2021 by launching a project to provide new playground equipment for Deis Hill Park in Dover. There are four shelters up there that have playground equipment from the 1960s, said the organization s president. Steve Handley. We are going to seek donations from the public and grants for that.
Cost of the project is around $15,000.

In the future, the club plans to fund a similar project in New Philadelphia.

The Hollydazzle light show is a three-quarter mile long celebration of Christmas, winter, and the holiday season, with more than a dozen lighted scenes.
These include Santa Clause, the sledding penguins, and a candy-land castle.
