The tragedy was made worse by the death of Elmer s father, Blaine Kenneth Elmer, 64, later Sunday morning in a crash at Skyline Boulevard and Trafalgar Parkway in Cape Coral.
Elmer was reportedly driving his motorcycle to meet with his son for a ride and was not aware of his son s death.
The two owned the Sea-Craft Waterfront Tiki Bar & Grill in North Fort Myers, with Nicholas Elmer handling chef duties.
Both men lived in Cape Coral.

A Cape Coral motorcyclist died Sunday in a crash involving an SUV that ran a red light.
Police say the crash happened at Skyline Boulevard and Trafalgar Parkway. It was reported at about 1:30 p.m.
The motorcyclist has been identified as Blaine Kenneth Elmer, and friends describe him as never not smiling.
Elmer was part of a Punishers LEMC Bad Company, a motorcycle club, where he was known as “Gator.”
Dan Holman, VP of Punishers LEMC Bad Company, said, “Everything he did he always had with a smile. Even in a bad situation, he looked up the good things.”

Cape Coral police said Blaine Kenneth Elmer, 64, of Cape Coral, was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail west on Trafalgar in the outside lane approaching Skyline shortly before 1 p.m.
Elmer owned Sea-Craft Waterfront Tiki in the Marinatown area of North Fort Myers since last year. A Facebook posting from the restaurant saying it would close until further notice cited Elmer s death as well as the Sunday night death of another restaurant staff member.
A 2017 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Nicole Marie Nesbitt, 34, of Cape Coral was southbound on Skyline in the outside lane approaching Trafalgar.
