Named for a surfing maneuver, Duck Dive in Pacific Beach is gearing up for the busy summer season as the pandemic wanes.
A Hennessey’s in a past life, Duck Dive at 4650 Mission Blvd. has been owned and operated by Thomas Winn for the past nine years, who is now working alongside his wife Rebekah.
Winn talked about his apprenticeship as a restaurateur.
“I worked for Paul Hennessey as an assistant manager for about seven or eight years in the Gaslamp Quarter,” he said. “When I found out he was looking to sell this PB location, I called Paul and asked to sit down and talk with him about buying. That’s how it all started.”
Education Foundation plans for school grants following more than $115,000 raised at annual Duck Dive The Forsyth County Education Foundation publicly revealed their total funds raised during this year’s Duck Dive with the help of the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Jeff Bearden. The foundation raised $115,352, with $70,000 from business sponsorships.
Forsyth County Education Foundation leaders announced at the Board of Education’s regular meeting Tuesday that they raised more than $115,000 during the 2021 Duck Dive for Education.
Board of Directors Chair Evan Profeta publicly thanked everyone who participated and donated to the foundation during this year’s Duck Dive at the meeting. Many local businesses also showed an “outpouring of support,” with $70,000 in donations coming from sponsorships.
