WATERVILLE Police say they recently issued 34 summonses after responding to a noise complaint from a party at a Winter Street apartment with more than 100 young adults celebrating a Colby lacrosse victory.
A Colby College student in attendance told officers the party was to celebrate the Colby men’s lacrosse team beating Connecticut College 20-17 at home earlier that day.

WATERVILLE Cancun Mexican Restaurant is in the midst of a one-week closure for flaunting COVID-19 requirements and creating “an imminent health hazard” for patrons and employees. The seven-day suspension runs until April 20 at 10 a.m.
A state health inspector issued a COVID-19 imminent health hazard finding Monday to the Silver Street restaurant, according to documents obtained by the Morning Sentinel. Cancun staff were observed not wearing face coverings, and the restaurant failed to quarantine a sick employee from its workforce while awaiting test results.
“Patrons not seated, allowed to wander and mingle,” the suspension read. “This behavior is encouraged by removal of bar stools and dining tables, which is in direct violation of the DECD Seated Food and Drink Service checklist.”

A popular Waterville watering hole & restaurant, Cancun Mexican Restaurant on Silver Street was forced to close by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services for causing an imminent health hazard for not following Maine State Covid-19 regulations according to an article by centralmaine.com.
The restaurant was required to close abruptly yesterday (4/13/21) and is required to stay closed for a seven day suspension that will run through 4/20/21 at 10am.
According to the article, Waterville Police witnessed employees of the Cancun Mexican Restaurant not wearing face masks, and also not requiring customers going into the establishment to wear face masks.
