Share Richard “Rick” Brandt WATERBORO – Richard “Rick” Brandt, 73, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2021, at Maine Medical Center after a period of declining health. He was born on Oct. 20, 1947, in Sanford to Otto C. and Audrey (Goodwin) Brandt. Rick grew up with his many close cousins in Waterboro Center spending time on his grandfather’s farm, hunting, fishing, and playing on the very first little league team in Waterboro. Rick graduated from Sanford High School in 1965. In September of 1966, he joined the National Guard leaving service in 1972. He pursued and completed an apprenticeship program at GTE Sylvania in Waterboro. In November of 1972, he married the love of his life, Nancy Daney, and together they raised two girls.

Fogarty was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is still under investigation, but police say speed is likely a factor in the fatal crash. He was wearing a helmet.

Waterboro man dies in Limerick motorcycle crash Share A Waterboro man died early Saturday morning just over the town line in Limerick after losing control of his motorcycle and striking a utility pole. Kirk Fogarty, 44, was driving on New Dam Road around 1 a.m. when he failed to navigate a curve in the road and hit a pole on the left side, the York County Sheriff said. Authorities didn’t say when the crash was called in or when emergency workers arrived, but Waterboro EMS pronounced Fogarty dead on the scene. Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
