In the first post in this series, I covered six components of value creation and exchange. Today, Iâll focus on the distinction between âpriceâ and âvalue.â In a 2008 letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, Warren Buffet framed this important distinction by noting âLong ago, Ben Graham taught me that âprice is what you pay; value is what you get.â Whether weâre talking about socks or stocks.â So, let me repeat the essence of Mr. Buffetâs quote, âPrice is what you pay, and value is what you get.â
