Firefighters on cross-country bike ride to remember victims of 9/11 arrive in Coachella Valley
A group of firefighters on bike ride across the United States to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 made a stop in the Coachella Valley on Monday.
15 firefighters from California, Colorado and Washington state are traveling from Los Angeles to New York City in remembrance of those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks 20 years ago.
The group is also raising money for several charities that help and support firefighters that are struggling with health problems and/or illnesses such as cancer. RENTON, Wash. - One person was killed and one was critically injured in a two-alarm fire at a Renton home where large amounts of explosives and ammunition were stored, emergency officials said.
Two other people were trapped on the second floor of the home and had to be rescued by firefighters using ladders.
One firefighter sustained a minor hand injury while responding to the blaze and two other people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Crews and medics responded to the fire, in the 500 block of Queen Place NE, at around 2:15 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames spewing from the residence, said Roy Gunsolus, assistant fire chief with the Renton Regional Fire Authority.
