CDC s new masking recommendations impact on schools and counties

Created: July 28, 2021 05:04 PM (ABC 6 News) - The Centers for Disease Control released new guidance for schools ahead of the new school year along with new masking recommendations for counties with high rates of transmission.  The state of Minnesota said it will be up to individual school districts to change requirements.  Proactive prevention strategies, not just reacting, but trying to prevent the spread, is critical for trying to protect people, including students teachers and staff who are not fully vaccinated, MDH Commissioner Jan Malcolm said.   The Minnesota Department of Health agreed with the CDC s masking recommendations for schools.  The CDC recommends students 12 or older should get vaccinated before returning to school and all students teachers and visitors wear masks regardless of vaccination status.
