Voting Organizations File Suit to Block Kansass Anti-Voter Law

KANSAS CITY – Today, two voting organizations filed suit today in federal court in Kansas against Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Johnson County District Attorney Stephen Howe to block anti-voter provisions in HB 2332.

Two Republicans can stop voter suppression

In addition to limiting mail-in voting to individuals who cannot physically vote at a polling place, proposals in Arizona require that ballots be notarized and returned in person and curtail voter registration drives. One bill gives the state legislature the power to revoke the voters’ choice of presidential electors by a simple majority vote, override certification of electors by the Secretary of State, and substitute another slate! Mike Pence Publishes Misleading Claims About HR 1 Voting Bill

Mike Pence wrote a shitty blog that he’d love for you to read. On Wednesday, the former vice president penned a whiny op-ed for right-wing news outlet Daily Signal titled “Election Integrity Is a National Imperative.” In it, he laid out his opposition to the For the People Act, a sweeping piece of legislation that would usher in a new, more equitable era of voting rights in America. The bill includes nationwide automatic and Election Day voter registration and mail-in ballot options for every state. It also requires that independent commissions draw congressional districts, effectively putting an end to racist gerrymandering. Also included: restored voting rights for people who have committed felonies and have served their sentences, voter-ID law restrictions, and federal financing of political candidates reliant on small donations.
