Letter to the Editor: Vacaville City Council needs Ritchie
It is my pleasure to write a personal letter to the editor supporting Greg Ritchie for Vacaville City Council District 2.
I have known Greg for the past 27 years through his and his family’s volunteer efforts at the Vacaville Veterans Memorial Building. I have found Greg to be one of the most compassionate and caring men that I have ever met. On numerous occasions, I have witnessed his positive interactions with veterans, family members, seniors, disabled and the homeless while volunteering at the free Community Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve Dinner at the Veterans Memorial Building.

Recall effort targets 2 Benicia school trustees; Vaca council may be next
FAIRFIELD Two members of the Benicia School District board have been targeted for recall, and the county Registrar of Voters Office has received recall inquiries about the Vacaville City Council.
John Gardner, the assistant registrar of voters, said Thursday the office is just waiting for proof that the notice of intention to circulate a recall petition has been published to give the final OK to collect signatures in Benicia.
The trustees who are the subject of the recall are Sheri Zada, who represents Trustee Area 1, and Mark Maselli, who represents Trustee Area 4. Both have terms that end in 2022.

Last week for Vacaville District 2 candidates to file
The special election is scheduled May 4.
There has been no new interest shown for the post since the initial five candidates took out papers during the first week the filing period opened.
Curtis Hunt, a former Vacaville councilman, filed his papers and has qualified for the ballot, according to the Solano County Registrar of Voters.
Two others, Gregory Ritchie II and Joe Desmarais, had filed their papers, but it was determined by the Elections Office that they needed additional signatures.
Vacaville City Clerk Michelle Thornbrugh said Monday that the other two individuals who took out papers – Balraj Saprai and Marc Yu – have not returned them, nor have they contacted her office about their intentions.
