Suffolk DA: Bay Shore Man Convicted for Killing One Victim, Causing Injuries to Two Others in Motor Vehicle Crash

Sini has announced the trial conviction of a Bay Shore man for killing one victim and causing injuries to two others in a motor vehicle crash while driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.   “This is yet another devastating crash caused by the reckless, inexcusable decision to drive while drunk and on drugs,” District Attorney Sini said. “This conviction cannot undo the pain caused by the defendant, but it holds him accountable for his selfish actions. There is no reason in this day and age why anyone should be getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, and my Office will continue to prosecute anyone who does to the fullest extent of the law.”

Sini has announced the indictment of a West Babylon man for leaving the scene of a fatal crash with a pedestrian in Amagansett.   Mark Corrado, 28, of West Babylon, is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting Resulting in Death, a class D Felony, and Tampering with Physical Evidence, a class E Felony.   “This was a horrible tragedy that has left two young children without their mother,” District Attorney Sini said. “In addition to allegedly fleeing the scene, the driver took even further steps to avoid being identified and taking responsibility for his actions. We will seek to hold him accountable and obtain justice for the victim and her family.”

Suffolk DA: Bellport Man Sentenced to Prison for 2019 Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash in Middle Island

Sini has announced the sentencing of a Bellport man to prison in connection with a fatal motor vehicle crash in Middle Island on Feb. 9, 2019. Nahriek Belford, 19, pleaded guilty on Feb. 11 to Assault in the First Degree, a B violent felony; two counts of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a C felony; and Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in the First Degree, a D felony. He was sentenced by Suffolk County Acting Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho to eight years in prison with five years of post-release supervision.
