SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department has rubbished claims that worshippers who turned up at a mosque here to perform Friday prayers had failed to follow Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).
State director Datuk Mohd Zaidi Ramli said the number of worshippers who had turned up at Masjid At-Taqwa in Paroi numbered less than 900 although the mosque could accommodate 3,000 people.
He said based on the SOP set by the state authorities, the mosque was allowed to take in 1,200 worshippers for Friday prayers. We understand that a clip has gone viral suggesting that the worshippers had failed to comply with the SOP under the movement control order. The number of worshippers who turned up were actually lower than the number allowed under the state SOPs.
As worshippers are no longer able to attend services, Salisbury Cathedral now serves its parish in a different way. The 800-year-old building has been turned into one of 50 mass vaccination sites in England.

Mohsen Ahmadi, the director of a local Kunduz radio station, Zohra, said on Friday that a number of worshipers stormed the radio station after the Imam at a mosque gave worshipers the orders to do so.
According to Ahmadi, the attack occurred after the Imam claimed music, broadcast by the radio station, was mixing with the mosque’s sound system and being broadcast over his loudspeakers.
Ahmadi said the worshipers destroyed the radio’s broadcasting equipment.
He said the mosque’s Imam did not know where the interference was coming from but gave the worshipers orders to storm the radio station.
A year ago, thousands of believers came to the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Sava in Düsseldorf to worship and celebrate Christmas Eve. One year later, due to the COVID pandemic, a lot has changed. The church had to adapt services to the circumstances to avoid the risks.
