Michael Wood, 34, set himself apart in a huge field of 23 candidates that will likely result in a runoff to fill the seat of late Congressman Ron Wright, who died of COVID-19 in February. Wood is a Fort Worth businessman and military veteran who we think embodies key conservative principles of limited government, low taxes, reducing debt, reforming entitlement programs, religious liberty, free trade and support of Second Amendment rights. The udders appeared to have been removed with precision straight, even cuts, as if made by a sharp object.
The reproductive systems had been cut out cleanly as well, and without disturbing other organs.
There was no indication of predator activity and perhaps strangest of all, scavenging animals appeared to have hardly touched these six cow carcasses found in a seven-day span this year on ranchland in rural Crook County.
Detectives with the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, longtime ranchers and a Prineville veterinarian who reviewed evidence from an ongoing case say they’re stumped by the “unnatural” deaths.

The Dallas City Council elections are May 1; early voting starts April 19. All 14 council seats are contested, and three districts, 2, 11 and 13, will see new faces as incumbents have reached term limits. The other 11 incumbents face challengers. This is the fifth of 14 stories on each race, which debuted with coverage of the three open slots. The rest will be featured in ascending numerical order.
City Council member Casey Thomas is seeking a fourth consecutive term in southwest Dallas’ third district in May, and he will be challenged by Irby Foster, a first-time council candidate.

Earlier this month, over 50 candidates in 14 contested Dallas City Council races had to file their latest campaign finance reports, documenting their fundraising and spending over the last several months.
The Dallas Morning News has hit on some of the bigger takeaways from these records. Almost $900,000 has been pumped into contests that will determine the makeup of the city council, with Mayor Eric Johnson spared from having to run for re-election until 2023. Big-name donors who have previously backed the mayor are now supporting challenges to three incumbent city council members who voted against Johnson last fall in a battle over police overtime funding a sign that public safety concerns (and the mayor’s strained relationships with many of his colleagues) are driving forces this election
