Emme-Rose Deakin, six, ran a mile a day in January, raising £1,443 for the charity. Then in February, eight-year-old Lilli-Mae Archer took on a 5k-a-day challenge and raised a further £1,705. To say thank you for their fundraising efforts, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust chief nurse and deputy chief executive Sue Smith OBE has invited them for a tour. Barrow DJs present more than £1,000 to Bay Hospitals Charity

A group of Barrow DJs has presented more than £1,000 to the Bay Hospitals Charity after setting out to raise funds for Furness General Hospital in memory of a wellâknown Barrow entertainer.
Stuart Salt was a DJ in the town for 40 years.
Stuartâs nephew, Andy Naylor, with fellow DJs Ronnie Rayner, Phil Anderson, Richard Allen and Chris Woodburn set up the Barrow Boogie nights group to host community fundraising events in his memory.
In early 2020 the group held a 70s and 80s rock night, followed by a socially-distanced rock and roll bingo night when COVID restrictions allowed during the summer.

Lilli-Mae Archer
An eight-year-old girl from Barrow plans to walk 5km every day this month to raise money for Bay Hospitals Charity.
Lilli-Mae Archer raised more than £1,500 for the charity last year when she cycled 53 miles in a week, and has set herself an even bigger challenge this time around.
Lilli said: âI want to raise money for the NHS because I want to help all the sick people.
âMy nanna Karen works at Furness General Hospital and she tells me how hard they all work. I want to raise as much money as I can.â
Mum Steph said: âLilli-Mae is looking forward to walking 5k every day in February, even though this will be a challenge for her, to raise as much money as she can for Furness General Hospital.
