Barrow girl receives special letter from House of Commons for fundraising efforts

A KIND-hearted Barrovian was delighted to receive a very special letter from the House of Commons, thanking her for raising thousands of pounds for the NHS. Eight-year-old Lilli-Mae Archer has gone above and beyond to raise money for the Bay Hospitals Charity, completing a mammoth walking challenge last month. Throughout February, the Victoria Academy pupil set herself the target of walking five kilometres a day, clocking up 91 miles across the whole month. In total, Lilli-Mae has raised more than £3,000 for the NHS and was given a very special letter of congratulations from the Barrow MP Simon Fell. In the letter, Mr Fell praised Lilli-Mae for her fundraising efforts.

Two young fundraisers from Barrow who donated more than £3,000 to Bay Hospitals Charity have been invited for a VIP tour of Furness General Hospital. Emme-Rose Deakin, six, ran a mile a day in January, raising £1,443 for the charity. Then in February, eight-year-old Lilli-Mae Archer took on a 5k-a-day challenge and raised a further £1,705. To say thank you for their fundraising efforts, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust chief nurse and deputy chief executive Sue Smith OBE has invited them for a tour. Sue said: “We’re so grateful to Emme-Rose and Lilli-May for everything they’ve done. We’re very proud of their achievements and we hope that they are too.
