Tauranga runner and mother of two, Maree Rajpal (32) has thanked the team of first responders who saved her life when she went into sudden cardiac arrest during the Hawke’s Bay half marathon. Maree was competing on Saturday 14 May, along with 8,000 .
“This community has been here for the last 162 years, we’re not going to let this roll us,” local man Terry Kingston said. He contacted the Central Hawke’s Bay Council (CHB) yesterday suggesting a shuttle service that would run the elderly from Waipawa to Waipukurau, so they could do their grocery shopping. “What’s been amazing is the organisation of groups who have got behind it. Waipukurau Rotary are prepared to help with the transport and offer financial help for petrol. Everyone is there to do something about it all,” Kingston said.
