CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas The Coastal Bend is no stranger to severe weather. In fact, with hurricane season right around the corner, right now is when preparations should start.
Ashley Gonzalez shared which boxes need to be checked off before, during and after a hurricane if you have pets.
Every year around this time, folks along the coast start prepping for the worst but hoping for the best: hurricane season.
These cats and dogs are looking for their forever homes.
Cane
Cane is a 5-year-old Blue Heeler with a lot of energy. He is also heartworm positive. Cane is an energetic, lovable and attentive working dog, who would do best in a home ready to train him and give him a job to do, employee Jordan Belew said.
Allison Allison is a good, small cat. employee Connie Guerrero said.
Harriet
Harriet is a 5-year-old terrier mix, who is a sweetheart. She is a package adoption with her sister, Ethel. They are both sweet and are always together. They go everywhere together and need a good, patient adopter to give them the attention they deserve, employee Jackie McCollough said.
‘The Dog Show Extravaganza’ returns to Lee Civic Center

The Lee Civic Center will play host to man’s best friend 1,800 of them this weekend as The Greater Fort Myers Dog Club presents “The Dog Show Extravaganza” sponsored by Powerhouse Dog Supply.
The three-day event, from Friday through Sunday, will include things similar to what attendees would see at the Westminster Dog Show, including confirmation, where the judges decide the winners for each breed and Best in Show.
Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event is free, but there will be a $5 charge for parking.
