It was a Christmas filled with treats, toys and lots of love as the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Fort Myers held its annual giving tree event Friday.
Dogs in the Humane Society’s care picked out gifts underneath the Christmas tree, and it was all made possible through donations.
Each ornament was made by volunteers for a specific animal.
Brian Weirima, with the Humane Society, says it’s a hit every single year, but the community really pulled through in 2020.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â The cold weather can take a toll on our four-legged friends according to animal shelter experts.
Though they may have fur, but they can still be susceptible to cold weather.
Sharon Ray, with the Gulf Coast Humane Society, tells us, A lot of people think that just leave your dogs outside, leave your cats outside, it s fine. They ve got fur. But they are also subject to the cold. Especially damp grounds, water that gets on them, the elements, the wind. It s one thing to be cold. It s another when you add all of those elements in together.
These cats and dogs are looking for their forever homes.
Ivy
Ivy is a four-year-old, heartworm positive Pitbull. She and her sister, Harley, need to be adopted together and have a reduced adoption fee of $200 for both dogs. Ivy can be shy and skittish and definitely follows her sister s lead, employee Jackie McCollough said. Once she warms up to you, she s very sweet and loving.
Sansa
Sansa is a Domestic Short Hair, who is a love bug. She is seven months old. She can be a little shy sometimes, but she opens up pretty quick, employee Connie Guerrero said.

Cape Coral girl helps shelter pets get Christmas gifts
Olivia Trader made more than 200 Christmas ornaments for the Gulf Coast Humane Society’s giving tree.
They showcase each pet waiting for a home for the holidays. You can help them by stopping by the shelter and grabbing an ornament.
Then, you can buy a gift for that pet and return it to the Gulf Coast Humane Society. There is also a list on their website.
In January Olivia was featured on a Girl Scout cookie box. She created a library at the shelter so kids had books to read to dogs and cats.
