Concerts and vegetable race car events will take place in Historic Jackson Square in Oak Ridge from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.
Oak Ridge’s new online farmers’ market, Market-To-Go, is celebrating National Farmers Market Week with several free events open to the public in front of Dean’s Restaurant, 239 Jackson Square.
National Farmers Market Week is always the first full week in August, when the nation’s farm produce is at its peak, a news release from Market-To-Go stated.
Free events will include the following.
Live music in front of Dean’s Restaurant, featuring the bands Snow Day (Lee Younger) and The Gravity Plans (Jim Kolpack).
New online farmers’ market in Oak Ridge now doubles SNAP benefits

A new online farmers’ market in Oak Ridge called Market-To-Go launched its Double Up Food Bucks program this week, allowing SNAP recipients to double their benefits up to $20 per day for fresh fruits and vegetables.
SNAP is short for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and was formerly known as Food Stamps.
Market-To-Go has 24 food producers listed for the summer in Oak Ridge and offers curbside pickup or home delivery of farmers market products, a news release stated.
“Our goal is to make locally grown produce more accessible for everyone, and Market-To-Go does this, especially now that we accept and double SNAP benefits, Rebecca Williams, director of Grow Oak Ridge, which is the nonprofit organization that operates Market-To-Go, stated in the news release.
