WINDSOR, Va. â The Windsor Police Department is hoping to rebuild trust with the small community. Town council members unanimously voted Tuesday night to bring in an outside company to review and update its policies for traffic enforcement and use of force.
âI think it gives the community more confidence in the agency and what weâre doing,â said Windsor Police Chief Dan Riddle. âItâs making sure youâre following best practice standards and that you have that outside set of eyes coming in saying, This is not working the way we want it to; you probably need to dial it back or change it differently, and itâs always good to have somebody from outside take a look at it because you may miss things.â

WINDSOR, Va. Members of the Isle of Wight NAACP are calling for the Windsor Police Chief, Rodney Riddle, to resign.
“We feel like Chief Riddle was complicit with the traffic stop that actually occurred on December 5th,” said President Valerie Butler, who added that the chief’s statements from his press conference were appalling.
“It was more about the video, not the act that he actually encountered with the officers, ” Butler explained.
