In Memory of Phoebe Snow
Dear Editor:
April 26 marks the tenth anniversary of the untimely passing of Phoebe Ann Laub, better known to her many legions of fans as Phoebe Snow. She was 60 years old at the time of her death.
Phoebe Snow was raised in Teaneck, New Jersey. She was raised in a household in which recordings of jazz, blues, and folk music were played consistently and constantly. As such, Phoebe Snow gained an unquenchable appreciation for music; which, ultimately, became the foundation for her successful career.
Phoebe Snow’s musical career spanned a little over 20 twenty years. She once quipped that she wanted to be the greatest woman guitarist alive. However, we fondly remember her for being a hard-edged, folksy jazz singer with catchy soul and rock hooks.

Letter: In praise of young people MAY I write in praise of our young people. When I went for my Covid 19 vaccination there were volunteers, and a lot of them were youngsters. I am told by my supermarket delivery person that the people who pack my goods are youngsters. These are just the ones I know about. There are doubtless many more, some volunteering and others doing low paid jobs. These are the people who had had their education disrupted, their social life swept away, and yet have stepped up to make our lives easier. Any of them who have struggled deserve understanding, kindness and professional help. I applaud all of you, thank you for your remarkable efforts and wish you well for your futures.

Trying to identify a small but very striking bird I saw out my window, I thumbed through a guidebook and came across one called an Eastern Phoebe hanging around our snow covered feeder. Turns out it was a Dark Eyed Junco, but can you guess who it reminded me of?
Phoebe Snow was a major talent who had a couple hits in the 1970s and high profile friends like
