PLANS: The new plans for the Crown in Martley would see the pub reopen alongside new homes and shops built A VILLAGE pub could reopen alongside new housing and a shop under new plans. The plans would see a smaller Crown pub in Martley remain next to new shop and office space with five new homes built on part of the car park. An existing first floor four-bed flat above the pub would be reduced in size with one two-bed and one three-bed flat built to the rear. The pub closed in 2017, having only reopened for 12 months after a significant and expensive refurbishment, and has remained empty since.

ST PETER’S has been as safe a seat as they come for the Conservatives at recent elections and the party with the overall majority on Worcestershire County Council will be hoping for a comfortable victory again next month. Former city mayor Steve Mackay will be standing for re-election for the Conservatives in St Peter’s having first been elected four years ago with 52 per cent of the vote - 651 votes ahead of the Green Party. The division has been comfortably held by the Conservatives over the years, as well as the two city council seats - one of which is held by Steve Mackay who claimed a victory with 55 per cent of the vote in 2019.
