WORCESTER Not since the ceremonial opening of the Centrum on the night of Sept. 2, 1982, with Frank Sinatra at center stage, has Worcester unveiled an entertainment venue on the scale of Polar Park.
The Triple-A baseball park is due to formally open Tuesday night, with the first home game of the WooSox.
Before the first pitch is tossed, a ceremony recognizing all the key (off-field) players is planned. From financing to permitting, the ballpark is closely tied to City Hall, beginning with the Aug. 17, 2018, announcement on the common that the Boston Red Sox top minor league team would be moving from Pawtucket to Worcester.

WINDSOR LOCKS (AP) â A small plane made an emergency landing with its wheels up Thursday at Connecticutâs Bradley International Airport, but no one was injured, airport officials said.
Two people were aboard the twin-engine Piper Aerostar and headed to the airport north of Hartford when the pilot reported a problem with the landing gear.
The plane was initially rerouted to Worcester Airport but was directed back to Bradley, where it landed with the landing gear up shortly after 1:30 p.m.
