New Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Membership Director Beth Sumner said she thinks it’s important to invest in the community and one another to encourage growth in the community. “I do think a big piece of it is figuring out what the community’s needs are and the businesses and how to bring those about,” said Sumner, a Cadiz resident who is retired from Trigg County Public Schools. Sumner previously worked 27 years with the school district, the last 16 at the district’s central office, where she retired in September of 2020 from her position as assistant superintendent of instruction. The chamber’s board of directors voted unanimously to choose Sumner to succeed Connie Allen, with Chamber President Ashley Johnson noting that Sumner’s qualifications and her work with the school board had an impact on the chamber board’s decision to hire her as the next membership director.
