Four VA hospitals in West Virginia named in lawsuit; group says facilities not providing records of wait times

CHARLESTON — West Virginia’s four VA medical centers were named in a nationwide lawsuit filed in federal court last week alleging a number of facilities have not responded to public information requests seeking wait times and other records related to patient care. The lawsuit claims the four hospitals are among 14 veteran health care facilities ducking Freedom of Information Act requests filed by Americans For Prosperity, a political advocacy group. The foundation filed the lawsuit last Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, naming the federal Department of Veterans Affairs and listing the four centers within the 26-page complaint.

(WWBT) - A special groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Thursday morning for the expansion of the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia Court House. Governor Ralph Northam and other officials will attend, announcing a $5.23 million grant to the Commonwealth from the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration to fund the project. “Funds will be used to add 3,600 new pre-placed burial crypts for Virginia veterans and eligible spouses,” a release said.
