BATH COUNTY, Va. Since his son died by suicide and attacked him during a mental health emergency seven years ago, State Senator Creigh Deeds has called reforming mental health services in the Commonwealth a âlifeâs work.â
He said that he wasn t surprised when behavioral health officials announced a pause in admission at five of eight state-run mental health facilities because of safety and staffing concerns.

WOODBRIDGE, VA – As public outcry for transparency and police reform has continued across the country since the death of George Floyd last summer in Minneapolis, several local police departments across Northern Virginia are collaborating on a multi-agency committee that will investigate incidents involving the use of force by law enforcement.
