The building, located at 100 N 9th Street in downtown Richmond, was evacuated while crews investigated the threat. Virginia State Capitol Alert Network issued an alert just before 1 p.m., urging the public to avoid the area due to the threat. K-9 units completed a sweep of the building and found nothing suspicious. The all-clear was given just after 2:30 p.m. and employees were allowed to re-enter the building. The threat comes following credible threats made against state capitals across the country. The City of Richmond declared a local state of emergency due to the potential for civil unrest following the U.S. Capitol Attack.
